Wonderful New Woolies...

...arrived today at the studio and I just finished getting it up on the website! My UPS driver, Pete is a trouper! 100's of yards of wool...bursting out of boxes!!! Can you tell...I'm just a wee bit excited?!?!? Some old favorites...like Honeycomb and Wild Mushroom are back in stock, too!

And even more will be arriving in a few weeks...Life IS good! ~L

Coming out of the deep freeze...

...and thinking of Spring while finishing hooking the first part of this year’s project rug!
The easy part is done...now on to cutting the kits...draw up the patterns and finish the instruction booklet. My goal is to have the kits out in the mail by weeks end!

Hope warmer breezes are blowing where ever you are...it’s still snowing here...but at least the thermometer reads on the plus side of zero!

Warm wooly hugs ~ L

Family Treasures...

Slowly...I’ve been going through some of my Mother-in-law’s treasures that we brought back from the farm. Sadly, I don’t know much about them...if she considered them treasures...or merely things she had and used.

While gathering old blue glass canning jars in the basement I found some old clothespins. I’m very curious about one of them...Who burned the “PRAY OFTEN” onto it???
Where did it come from??? Was it hers...or her Mother-in-laws??? Did she use it regularly??? And...What did she think about when she did???

There are many other little things I chose to bring home...most with no value to anyone but me because of my love of textiles...another day I will bring these out!

Today, I’ve made some progress on Part One of “A Sampler”...(the pattern is shown in previous post)...I’m pleased with the way it is coming together. I’ll post pics soon...my hope is to have it finished for Saturday’s hooking group at my studio...guess the guys are getting “Chinese take out” for dinner tonite...LOL!!!

We’re under a winter storm advisory again this evening thru tomorrow...hope where ever you are your safe and warm. L

January...Time to launch the 2009 LJF Rug Project...

This year’s rug is titled “A Sampler”...it’s 30” x 28.5”...and I think it’s going to be a fun one to hook! For those of you that aren’t familiar with my rug projects...let me explain...
I started offering them back in 2006...Celebrate the Magic in Each Season...26” x 32”

The “Rug Project” is based on the quilter’s idea of a Block of the Month...only we do the rug in four parts. In January the full linen pattern, cut wool to hook this section and binding tape are sent out. Part Two’s cut wool is mailed out in April...Part Three’s in July and finally Part Four’s cut wool and a special custom fabric label go out in October. Each part includes a detailed hooking guide...so even a novice hooker can feel confident in completing the rug.

I’ll be updating photos on my website...and here so you can follow the progress if you choose.

This was 2007...Comforts of Home...18” x 42”

and 2008...Under the Sun...18” x 40”

Happy Saturday...

Another cold and snowy one here in Minnesota! A good day to hunker down with WOOL!
Before I can pick up my hook...it's time to pack away the Christmas stuff!
I was up til the wee hours updating the website...so I think I need a bit more coffee before I can bring myself to start de-Christmasing!!!

Hope what ever you are doing today brings you peace and joy! L
