What's Hookin' & January Ramblin'

Happy January to All ~
I'm confused...things seem to be out of sorts...it's been in the mid-teens to low twenties the last few days...we've had a bit of ice and a few snow flakes...it's mostly brown...and oh so dry...This is January?...in Minnesota??? To top it off we are still on Christmas break...oops...that is what we used to call it...excuse me...winter break. Yes, the kids were in school right up to Christmas eve...so they get two full weeks after Christmas off. Husband and son used to be on the same break schedule...not this year...hubby has had to head back to work already.

I have several rugs in progress...a couple commissions and the start of the 2012 annual rug! If you are interested in this year's project rug...Grandma's Garden...I just put a clickable link on the left sidebar...it will take you to the website page that has all the information. I'll post updates of the rug as it progresses...right now it's slow going...I'm taking my parents to doctor appointments several times a week...that's a whole other story!
So for now here is my watercolor sketch...
So I need to back away from the computer and get back to the frame...wishing you all a great week and many blessings! ~L

  1. I love your watercolor! I have some of those pencils, I should try something like that. It reminds me of when we were little!
I'd like to see the new rugs when they're done.

  2. So far it looks beautiful! I will be watching the progression. :-) We have winter break too (and fall festival instead of Halloween, etc). Kiddo goes back tomorrow. He had a little over two weeks off.

  4. Hi Laurie,
Looks like a nice design that would be fun to hook! Isn't it hard to get things done when life interrupts? I just get going on something and then it's time to take my Mom to Dr.s or get pills etc. I've just learned to accept it some days easier than others!
You enjoy working on that design!
    Hugs!

  5. I'm old school I guess and still cal it 'what it is' Christmas break...not sure if I'll be hauled away for thinking like that...hmmmmm....hope there are no people reading that are policing us! lol
Love the water color sketh - very pretty colors.

  6. I, too, am old school with 'Christmas' break. It is what it is! And I always make a point of saying 'Merry Christmas' (and not Happy Holidays -- unless I know it is someone who doesn't celebrate it). Will the word 'Christmas' make it out of our vocabulary one day??? It seems a little silly.... all the attempts not to use it. Just saying...... :) :)

Love the sketch you did for your hooking project!! I can't wait to see it all finished up! I wish I could do rug hooking.... I just love some of the designs out there and would love to have one for above my fireplace.

    Happy New Year!!

  7. Hi Laurie,
It has been an unusual winter, hasn't it? We have some snow and did have a white Christmas but just barely. Happy New Year to you. Wishing you many blessings in 2012. Warm hugs, Lori

  8. Merry, Merry, Christmas and a Happy New Year! Running woefully behind in blogging - as with everything these days....and apologize for missing your last few posts. It has been a strange winter so far (in neighboring Wisconsin as well) - we have snow on the ground, and had a couple of good rounds with it, but it makes me fearful of what's to come. The rest of this week is supposed to be near 30 if not above....(although the windchill last evening was -11 before I stopped checking it....) Your new design looks wonderful - I love the prim whimsy of the oversized flowers and the sun framing the house. This will be fun to watch it progress...anxious to see your color plan. Wishing you and yours a wonderful new year overflowing with joy, promise, and blessings....Smiles & Hugs ~ Robin
